Works perfectly
I love using low fidelity mode 1680x1050 to watch streams as they are usually 720p or under, this means my GPU is doing much less work so my fans don’t kick in and the UI is sized the same as I’m used to. I usually use retina 1680x1050 mode but that renders at 3360x2100 and scales down to 2880x1800 on the fly so that coupled with inneficient flash streaming uses way more power than necessary.
I also use this when hooked to an external display & I am not focussing on the laptop’s screen, I work in video so this frees up some of the GPU power for certain rendering tasks.
