Great for choosing a specific monitor resolution, a feature that was removed from OS X natively a couple of releases ago. A life saver for choosing you external monitor/beamer resolution.

I work with some music tools (Ableton Live and Traktor) and I find it quite useful to have them run on a higher screen resolution than normal. Display Menu makes it easier zu switch between different resolutions so that I can quickly switch between “music mode” and “normal mode”.
Excellent Functionality, Awful Support I buyed the Pro Upgrade. But I have a major Bug: non-retina resolutions are missing from the menu. The support did not answer in over 30 days. So, in the end, I had to buy another alternative besides this one. :(
this app is useless, RetinaDisplayMenu (free app) does a much better job and shows custom Retina resolution (that are in display overrides) This app does not! This app is just a task bar for system settings -> Display resolutions Waste of Money...
I really missed the old display menu - so happy that someone created a replacement!
This is a super handy app for people like myself who like jumping between a couple different resolutions. Plus, it supports HiDPI modes! If it had configuration options streamline the menu by only showing preferred resolutions (like SwitchResX does) I would happily pay a couple bucks for it. Thanks a bunch!
Oh I really missed the menu icon. Call me lazy but also I hate people seeing me change the display. I loved the icon and you have done an AWESOME job returning something removed. Why isnt there a charge for this excellent app??? Thanks a 1,000,000
Changing resolution to 1440x900 on a MacBook Pro Retina 15 doesnt result in a high DPI setting; not sure why because lower resolutions have the high dpi option.
I use Display Menu because my retina MacBook Pro often sets the external monitor to the wrong resolution when I connect it. Display Menu provides a convenient, quick way to change the monitor to the correct resolution. The problem is that Display Menu often crashes when I connect the external monitor and the resolution is set wrong. In other wortds, at the times when I need to use it, Display Menu has often crashed. Its a free app so I cant complain too much, but it would be nice if it was more stable.
I really like the app and the functionality is well implemented. However, when the app runs, it removes everything from my Login Items. Quit the app, and my Login Items are restored. Additionally, the apps on Run on login doesnt actually work. It took a long time to figure out Display Menu was the culprit for this, and is annoying enough that I have simply stopped using it. An email to the author went unanswered.
Thanks for bringing back that feature. I was missing it! The only thing missing I believe is the ability to click on "detect displays". Many of us use adaptors and different wires that prevent auto detection of displays and we currently need to force that by going to the preference "pain"... all puns intended!
doesn’t work with Maverick. Worked great prior to update.
I teach at a local college and I am always going into different classrooms that have projectors that can display different resolutions. I have to go through the cumberson procedure of opening settings and trying different resolutions. Now that I am able to do this from the menu bar, life will be so much easier.
Great replacement for the old menu, but it is still lacking the 1440x900 HiDPI resolution for the macbook pro 15”. Please add it!
While it provides regular and HiDPI modes for the 13" Macbook size (1280 x 800), it doesnt provide a HiDPI mode for the 15" size (1440 x 900). Because of this its possible to change a 15" Retina Macbook Pro to run as if it was a non-retina, but not to change it back to the default display mode without opening the Display Preferences.
This app does not support the high DPI mode of 1440x900 and doesn’t even have 1920x1200 (more space in the display preferences), high DPI or otherwise.
I love using low fidelity mode 1680x1050 to watch streams as they are usually 720p or under, this means my GPU is doing much less work so my fans don’t kick in and the UI is sized the same as I’m used to. I usually use retina 1680x1050 mode but that renders at 3360x2100 and scales down to 2880x1800 on the fly so that coupled with inneficient flash streaming uses way more power than necessary. I also use this when hooked to an external display & I am not focussing on the laptop’s screen, I work in video so this frees up some of the GPU power for certain rendering tasks.
This app is an utter waste of money, it doesn’t do anything that OS X can’t do. Save your money folks and move on.
This is decent appd does what it says, however it one annoy flaw is that it does not save resolution setting across reboots.
The `Show mirroring options in the menu bar’ checkbox stopped work, so I installed this. Kinda useful.
